‘Life of Pi’ 22nd – 25th February

In English this week we completed the Author’s Note and Chapters 1 – 4 of ‘Life of Pi’. We consolidated our understanding of Pi’s background, Pi’s and Mamaji’s characters, the role of the author-narrator, plot, symbolism of the sloth, the significance of Pi’s name and the swimming lessons to Pi, and identified the typographic clue to determine the narrative voice. We also considered Pi’s defence of zoos and the impact growing up in a zoo had on his formative years.
