‘Of Mice and Men’ 31st August – 3rd September

  • A pre-reading activity, that required the learners to make inferences about the setting, plot, characters and themes, was completed individually. The class then shared their thoughts and ideas.
  • An activity to establish how atmosphere is created was completed using visuals as a point of reference. The class shared their responses.
  • A close analysis of language in the first 3 paragraphs of chapter one was discussed to identify setting.
  • Vocabulary was developed by using a dictionary effectively.
  • The background/context to the novella was covered with a critically relevant YouTube clip and teacher input.
