Activities
-Spelling –Dolch Words – List 5
-Instructions – The children cut out and reordered the instructions on how to play Hopscotch. Each child wrote down a list of things we will need to wash our hands. Then they wrote the step by step instructions of ‘How to wash your hands properly. In both activities, we underlined the ‘bossy words’ in each sentence.
-Handwriting Without Tears – Letter ‘l’
-New Wave Spelling book B , Unit 3, pages 10-11
-Phonics and Spelling – We read and wrote words with end with /igh/ such as ‘high’.
MATHS

Activities
– 2D and 3D shapes -We learned to visualise and recognise 3D shapes as well as referring to their properties: number of faces, corners, edges. We also learned to recognise 2D shapes in different positions and orientations
-‘Timed test’ – differentiated test. The children had to find the answer to the addition sentences within a time limit of 5 minutes

-We reviewed What makes a shadow? We investigated which materials or objects make the best shadows.

Activities
–Using a flash light / torch and objects see how you can make shadows change. Review, how some materials make better shadows than others. (transparent materials etc). The children had to predict which things let light through, which let some light and which do not let light through at all. They then checked their predictions.

Activities
–Jane shared how she made her shadow puppet theatre and which materials were used. The children answered the following questions:
-How does day and night happen?
– What makes a shadow?
-How does a shadow puppet work?
-How can you measure the height of something tall using shadows?
-How many different light sources can you remember?
We reviewed the Knowledge Harvest True or False statements.
The children got to find key words learned from the Unit in the word search.

-Shared reading time. Reading and comprehension using ‘Pet at the Vet’ Short vowel word families and ‘Fun at the Beach’ – Reading comprehension and fluency passages
Wednesday
-Growth Mindset – Gratitude Challenge – My Gratitude Jar
The children had to think about different things, people and events you are grateful for.
Thursday
-Story time –‘Ten Flashing Fireflies’ By Philemon Sturges
Literacy Planet Tasks to complete.
