Activities

-Spelling –Dolch Words – List 5 (10 words)

-Instructions – We brainstormed any information they already knew about what we use instructions for. We discussed 

-why instructions need a title

-why bossy words are important in instructions

– why the sentences are short and snappy

-why the sentences use the present tense.

We then played the game ‘Follow the leader’ online. It was fun and we all adapted very well with the internet freezing sometimes. Some friends gave a running commentary giving instructions of what the leader was doing for those who could not see. 🙂

Activities

– Arrays – The children learned that we can draw an array to represent a multiplication and label the columns and rows with the appropriate number.

-We watched two videos showing a Shadow Puppet Theatre Show. Each child made their moving crocodile shadow puppet.

– Each child shared a little story, using their own imagination, with the shadow puppets they created.

-Shared reading time. Reading and comprehension using ‘Friends’ Short vowel word families and  ‘At the Zoo’ – Reading comprehension and fluency passages
