✨ Making Maths colourful and collaborative! 🦋🎨
Our brilliant Year 2 students have begun their fascinating journey into symmetry this week. To understand perfect balance and mirror images, they embarked on a joyful investigation by creating beautiful paint butterflies.
By carefully applying paint to one side and folding the paper, they actively created stunning, symmetrical patterns. It was heartwarming to watch their enthusiastic mirror-image creations appear, transforming complex maths concepts into tangible art.
It’s fantastic to see our young mathematicians making such wonderful, hands-on connections in the classroom.

Mastering mixtures in Year 3! 🌾🔬
This week, our inquisitive Year 3 class tackled a practical scientific challenge: separating a complex dry mixture. Working brilliantly in groups, the students utilised sieves to cleverly separate fine powders from larger, solid grains. This tactile experiment allowed them to grasp the concept of physical properties and understand why certain tools are required for specific scientific tasks.
We are incredibly proud of the focus, collaboration, and joyful curiosity demonstrated by our Primary students today. Keep up the fantastic work! 🥣💡

In March, our Year 3 students had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Iranian New Year through a highly informative and engaging presentation in class.
Learning about different cultural traditions is a vital part of our holistic education at Surabaya European School. By exploring the fascinating history, joyful customs, and beautiful symbols of spring associated with Nowruz, our young learners are actively developing their international-mindedness.
