SES Instagram celebrates the sporting, cultural, social and charitable activities of our school community. Providing our students with opportunities for fitness, wellness, artistic expression as well as a supportive social environment is a very important part of their development. Building strong foundations in numeracy is a joy to watch in this classroom. Our students have been getting to grips with addition, understanding it as the process of “combining two sets” to make a whole. Using tangible resources like counters and part-whole models helps to bring these abstract numerical ideas to life in a way they can see and touch.
It was wonderful to see so many confident students eager to come to the front and demonstrate their counting skills to their friends. From careful one-to-one counting to super-fast mental maths, every student is celebrated for their progress and growing confidence.

With care and focus, they cut each petal and leaf, shaping their handmade masterpiece step by step. 🌿 They assembled each part with patience and precision, a wonderful way to practise fine motor skills.
Every finished flower was unique, showing their imagination and pride in their work. 🌼Hands-on learning like this helps students understand science through art, creativity, and joy. 🌟

It was another fascinating session in the chemistry lab for our secondary students, exploring the building blocks of our universe. The lesson delved into the intricate structure of the Periodic Table, turning what can be a daunting chart into a logical puzzle.
A brilliant, insightful question from a student about the ‘gaps’ between element groups sparked a fantastic discussion about chemical properties and patterns. To put theory into practice, a student was then invited to the interactive whiteboard to draw the electron shell configuration of an atom. By actively engaging with these complex concepts, our students develop a much deeper and more memorable understanding of science.
